A score keeper for Coinche

Cards on the table, score on the phone.

Coinche, or Belote contrée, is the favourite Belote of France: four players in two teams bid for the trump, and the side that bids the most has to make what it promised. This app takes the place of the pencil and paper: it knows who deals, adds the bid, spots a failed contract and keeps the score to the end.

At the table

Everything you used to scribble in the margin

The app knows the rules of Coinche, so all that’s left at the table is to play and call out the points.

  • Two teams of two

Four players, partners sitting opposite. Use your own names or just “Us” and “Them”.

  • The bid

Mark who won the bidding and set the bid, from 80 to 160 or capot, with − and +; the app adds it to the points.

  • Coinche and surcoinche

Did the opponents say “coinche”? Mark it and the bid is doubled, and doubled again after a surcoinche.

  • A failed contract

Fell short of the bid? That’s DOWN — the opponents get 160 plus the bid, and the bidding side keeps only its belote.

  • Announcements and belote

Tierce, cinquante, cent, four of a kind and belote, counted with “−” and “+”. Enter one side’s points and the app gives the rest of the deal to the other, rounded to the ten.

  • Rules to hand

The rules of Coinche are built in — in all seven of the app’s languages, no internet needed. Or read them in advance right here.
