A score keeper for Belote

Cards on the table, score on the phone.

Belote is the great French trick-taking game of the Jass family — four players in two teams, or two or three each for themselves. This app takes the place of the pencil and paper: it knows who deals, counts the declarations and the belote-rebelote, spots dedans and litige, and keeps the score up to 1000.

At the table

Everything you used to scribble in the margin

The app knows the rules of Belote, so all that’s left at the table is to play and call out the points.

  • Two, three or two teams

Two or three players each for themselves, or two teams of two. Use your own names or just “Us” and “Them”. Play to 1000 or 500, and see next to each side how many points it still needs.

  • Knows who deals

The deals badge moves on by itself after every deal, and the side to the dealer’s left is already picked as the one taking the trump. If everyone passes, one tap records a redeal, or, if at your table the dealer must play, the trump goes to the dealer.

  • Every declaration

Tierce, fifty, hundred, four jacks and four nines, belote-rebelote and capot: count them with “−” and “+”, or spin a wheel from 162 to 822. Enter one side’s points and the app gives the rest of the deal to the other.

  • Dedans and litige

Took the trump and scored less? That’s DEDANS — the whole deal and its declarations go to the opponents, while the belote-rebelote stays with whoever declared it. A tie, LITIGE, follows your table’s rule: held over, to the opponents, or each keeps their own.

  • Mistakes are easy to fix

↶ takes back the last deal, and any other one can be opened, changed or deleted. Totals, the dealer and the winner are worked out again.

  • Rules to hand

The rules of Belote are built in — in all seven of the app’s languages, no internet needed. Handy for teaching a newcomer at the table, or read them in advance right here.
